Students from Northwest College art and graphic design programs were commissioned in 2007 by the Wyoming Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to research, write, illustrate, and design a set of five interpretive panels for a recreation area in the northern Bighorn Mountains.
It took a few years to work its way through the federal bureaucracy and funding shortfalls, but the panels were finally installed in 2020 after a redesign to meet new BLM standards.
